Common Application School Selection

When applying to the George Washington University (GW), all first-years (early and regular decision), transfer, and international applicants are required to select a primary GW school or college.

If you have another area of interest, you may also indicate an alternate choice on the Common Application. Applications that include a primary and alternate school will be considered sequentially, first by the primary and then by the alternate choice. You are not required to choose an alternate school or college. Students who do indicate an alternate must fulfill all application requirements for both schools if they differ.

You will only receive one decision from GW. For this reason, we encourage you to review the courses offered and major requirements in each school and college to better understand if an alternate school option would serve your academic interests.

You are expected to enroll in the school to which you have been admitted. If you wish to transfer schools within the university, you may apply to do so during your second semester at GW, effective the following term.
